Spain Binibeca Vell
This photo was taken in Binibeca Vell, a strikingly photogenic village on the south coast of Menorca. Known for its narrow alleyways, bright whitewashed buildings, and peaceful charm, the village feels like a maze of calm and simplicity. The church tower peeking through the narrow gap is one of the most recognisable features, blending effortlessly with the traditional Mediterranean style that defines the town.
Photography Tips
Binibeca is all about light, contrast, and simplicity. The clean white walls reflect light beautifully, so even during the day you can get soft, even tones – perfect for handheld shooting. Look for natural frames like this alley to isolate key architectural elements and add a sense of discovery. A polariser helps deepen blue skies and cut glare off the white surfaces, but be careful not to overdo it. Early morning or late afternoon gives softer light and fewer people around.
Travel Information
Binibeca is about 15 minutes by car from Mahón. There’s a free car park just outside the village, and the whole place is pedestrian-only. It’s a small area, so easy to explore on foot. There are a few cafes and shops, but it’s mostly residential and designed to be quiet – go during the week or shoulder season for a more relaxed experience. Be respectful – people live here, and it’s easy to accidentally step into someone’s private entrance.
