Spain Mahon at Sunset
This view from a balcony near the top of the Ascensor Port de Maó looks over Mahón’s old town, with the church of Església del Carme rising above surrounding buildings. It’s a solid sunset location, especially as the streetlights begin to come on and the sky shifts to blue hour.
Photography Tips
HDR is useful here to balance the contrast between the bright sky and darker buildings. A tripod is recommended for bracketing exposures. Aim to shoot right after sunset for a mix of warm and cool tones.
Travel Information
The viewpoint is right at the top of the port elevator (Ascensor Port de Maó) and easy to access. No permits or fees. It’s a public area with good visibility and space to set up a tripod, though it can get a bit crowded in summer evenings.
