This station, inaugurated in 1893 with the arrival of the railway to the city, is a superb example of 19th-century iron architecture, combined with industrial and ornamental elements in the modernist style.

Its structure is characterized by:

A large central nave with a spectacular iron and glass roof, typical of railway buildings of the time, allowing for spectacular natural light.

A main façade of exposed brick and stone, with decorative details and large arches that reflect the importance and ostentation given to these buildings, which were the "gateway" to the city for travelers.

The significance of this place is historical. It represents the progress and modernization of Almería, which, in the 19th century, was finally connected to the rest of Spain by rail, boosting its economy based on mining and the export of table grapes.

Photography Tips

Ideal Time:

Sunset and Blue Hour: The sidelight of the sunset warmly bathes the stone and brick facade. During the "blue hour," the artificial lighting inside is turned on, making the iron structure stand out from the outside like a lantern, creating a magical contrast with the intense blue sky.

Composition:
Wide Angle: Essential for capturing the immensity of the main nave and the entire iron structure from the inside.

Panoramic: Zooming in on the building's central entrance highlights this area, which is undoubtedly the most significant. Multiple shots with a later stitching in mind can open up many creative possibilities for composition.

Details: Don't forget the small elements: decorative ceramics, old signs, vintage streetlights, or the mechanisms of the railways themselves. They tell the story of the place.

Technique:

Tripod: Absolutely essential for photographing during the blue hour with long exposures.

Bracket if the light difference between the outside (glass roof) and the inside is too large, then merge the shots for a natural HDR.
