Spain City Hall in Valencia
Visit Valencia City Hall with its impressive combination of architectural styles. Ayuntamiento de València, Valencia City Hall, is an emblematic building and the heart of the city's social, festive, and cultural life. It was created by merging two buildings: the Casa de la Enseñanza, a former girls' school that the city administration moved into in 1854, and the Cofradía de la Sangre church. Another wing was added, designed by architects Francisco Mora and Carlos Carbonell Pañella in the early 20th century. The façade, decorated with numerous Mannerist and Baroque-style ornaments, features a characteristic tower with a central clock, allegorical statues, and two towers flanking the impressive balcony from which the start of the Mascletá is announced as part of the Fallas festival from March 1 to 19. The interior of Valencia City Hall is also worth a visit, if only for the majestic neoclassical marble staircase, the courtyard, and the Crystal Hall (Ballroom). Visits to the City Hall are free of charge and do not require prior booking.
