Spain Ebro Delta Natural Park – Wildlife & Wetlands
The Ebro Delta is a vast wetland landscape shaped by lagoons, rice fields, reed beds and the Mediterranean Sea. It is especially interesting for bird photography, with countless opportunities to photograph birds interacting with the human elements scattered throughout the landscape. Weathered signs, fences and other structures can create striking contrasts between the natural environment and our temporary presence within it.
Photography Tips
A telephoto lens is highly recommended for both wildlife and more intimate landscape compositions. Look beyond classic bird portraits and pay attention to birds interacting with signs, posts and other elements of the landscape, as these can produce more narrative images. Overcast skies and soft light work particularly well here, helping to preserve detail in white plumage while creating subdued, atmospheric backgrounds. Leave plenty of negative space when possible and use distant lagoons, reeds and vegetation as layered backgrounds.
