West to southwest of Kiruna a series of lakes runs along, like a string of pearls. They are the origin of the Kalixälv. At the western end of the parallel road lies the small town of Nikkaluokta, from where hiking trails lead to Sweden's highest mountain, Kebnekaise. Approaching the village the road runs between two very picturesque lakes.
