Switzerland Sabbione, Val Bavona

In Val Bavona, probably the wildest valley in Switzerland, you can really see the power of nature. Throughout the valley you pass huge boulders that stem from rockfalls or avalanches. In many places people used the boulders to build stables or even houses underneath (called „Splüi“, Hobbit anyone?), protecting the building from new disasters. In Sabbione there is a nice example.

From Locarno drive up Maggia Valley and turn left towards Bavona in Bignasco. There are regular buses as well.
