Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa’s most extraordinary natural wonders, formed from a collapsed volcanic caldera millions of years ago. It shelters a dense concentration of wildlife, including lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo and vast herds of wildebeest and zebra. With its dramatic landscapes and rich biodiversity, the crater offers a unique glimpse into a perfectly balanced natural ecosystem.

Photography Tips

Be ready with your landscape lens. In the 45 minutes drive from entrance gate 1 to gate 2 is a better chance to just this lens than the tele-zoom lens. Inside the crater you will find way much more wildlife than on this way on the rim.

Travel Information

Come as early as possible. The gate opens at 6am till 6pm. In the first hours of the day you have the best chance to spot hunters like cats.

Book your game drive in advance. In most of the lodges the game drives are included. Would prefer to book a package with a provider.
