Turkey (Türkiye) The blue mosque
The Blue Mosque is one of Istanbul’s most iconic landmarks, located in the historic Sultanahmet district. Its large courtyard, repeating arches and columns, and the contrast between stone architecture and open space make it a strong location for architectural photography.
Photography Tips
Arrive early in the morning to avoid crowds. Focus on the columns and repeating structures to create clean, graphic compositions and make them stand out. Using longer focal lengths helps isolate details and reduces visual clutter. Keeping people out of the frame makes the architecture feel much calmer and more timeless.
Travel Information
Parking is available in the city, but traffic can be heavy around Sultanahmet. It’s strongly recommended to arrive by tram (Sultanahmet stop), which brings you directly to the area and saves time. The mosque and courtyard are only a short walk from the tram stop.
