Take 1 litre of water with you, and be sure to take sunscreen cream and a hat. Most importantly, walk with two batons.

I did the pre-dawn pilgramage to Nemrut Dağı about 30 years ago and knew nothing about this amazing view. Thanks for sharing.

There are two mountains named Nemrut but one is Lake (Bitlis), one is mountain (Adiyaman city). Maybe you visited Nemrut Mountain in Adiyaman.

Can’t be too hard on the Turk’s for re-using a place name: England has over 600 pubs called The Red Lion. And place names differentiated by the name of the local river, e.g. Henley-upon-Thames, Newcastle-upon-Tyne... I’d recommend anyone visiting this area also take a ferry on Akdamar island on Lake Van. There is a very old Armenian church there, still intact. It has a series of religious scenes in bas-relief all around the outside: David and Goliath, Isaac about to sacrifice his son, Jonah being swallowed by a whale that looks more like a large bear with fins…
