Close up viewing of puffins. Various large bird colonies along the cliffs and on the rocks below are visible but you will need a long telephoto to get photos of these.
Photography Tips
The puffins live in holes on the side of the cliff. They will pop out of these holes and run around before going back in. If you don't see any, wait a while. I came late afternoon and saw about 5 or 6. You should be able get as close 3 to 10 feet.
Travel Information
Park at Sumburgh Head Car Park and walk up the hill. On the left look at parts of the cliff where you can see dirt sloping down. Birds are not easily viewed from the lighthouse at the top
