A tripod is really needed to shoot the interior for longish (1 to 1.5 sec) bracketed exposures. A wide lens!

All car parks are free in Ely, a refreshing change! It does cost to enter the cathedral if you are not a resident of the CB6 and CB7 postcodes. A permit to use a tripod is £2

Wow, I never heard that somebody is charging money for tripod usage. Usually it's forbidden in general, so that nobody is blocking a view for hours. Did you pay it? I think the price is totally fair, but just never heard of something like that. They should double the price for selfie sticks... ;-)

Hi Manuel, it's a photography permit that you purchase, I think you can shoot hand held for free though. I don't have to pay to get in, so I didn’t mind paying for the permit :) Needed a tripod to grab multiple exposures for HDR of the interior. I agree about the selfie sticks ha ha ha!
