United Kingdom Petrified tree on Porlock Marsh
Porlock Marsh was flooded by the sea in 1996 when the protective shingle ridge was breached. This posioned the trees which left them looking like prettified skeletons. These trees can be readily seen and accessed from the SW coastal path.
Photography Tips
Take your time with composition so as to isolate one tree or a group of trees. Watch out for branches 'touching' the horizon.
I subsequently found out that a high tide can result in some great reflection images. So check high tides and timings.
A mono treatment seemed obvious for this shot and I also gave it a heavy tone treatment to give it a 'negative' feel.
