In late summer the whole of Rockford Common is a great area for capturing heather photos, especially at sunset. All year round it offers a variety of landscape opportunities from wide open vistas to enclosed paths where light streams through the trees.

Photography Tips

While not essential, a tripod could be useful as some shots amongst the trees could be quite dark at some times of day

Travel Information

Road access is simple. There is a large National Trust car park at the Western side of the common. Search for 'National Trust - New Forest Northern Commons' in your favourite mapping app. The roads on the approach to the car park are quite narrow in places and it can be a popular spot, particularly in summer.
