United Kingdom Southampton Docks from Hythe Marina
Hythe Marina is a great place to watch the activity in and around the confluence of the rivers Test and Itchen at the top of Southampton Water. There are lots of shipping movements. Cruise ships are frequent visitors to Southampton, and pass Hythe on their way to and from the terminal. Huge container ships also make the same journey, as do the frequent ferry services to the Isle of Wight. The docks provide a schedule of movements on the Southampton VTS (Vessel Traffic Services) web site.
Photography Tips
Longer lenses can be useful here for close up shots of the ships and the docks themselves.
Travel Information
Hythe village is easily accessible by car. Three public car parks are available, including one in the marina itself. Check prices on your favourite parking app.
