United Kingdom The Cauldron, Filmston Bay, Pembrokeshire
The Cauldron is a cave that has collapsed due to erosion. The sea flows in on every tide.
Photography Tips
Safety First! Shots like this require working close to the edge of sheer drops. Be very careful, especially in windy conditions. Evening light helps to lift the shadows that inevitably darken the lower cliffs. Having people in the shot helps give a sense of scale to the scene.
Travel Information
The Cauldron is a short hike along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path from the car park for Stack Rocks (Elegug Stacks). However, this car park and the road that leads to it are often closed during the week. This area of the coast is adjacent to a military firing range. The area may be open after around 5pm on some weekdays, though not all. Firing times are published by the MOD. Search for "Castlemaine Firing Notice". The area is normally open at weekends.
