United Kingdom Haulbowline Lighthouse
Haulbowline Lighthouse, completed in 1824, stands on a semi-submerged rock at the entrance to Carlingford Lough. Designed by George Halpin, the 34-meter stone tower was a remarkable engineering feat of its time. Originally painted white, the lighthouse's natural stone was revealed in 1946. The principal light, situated 32 meters above sea level, guides vessels through the lough's entrance. In 1965, it became the first major offshore lighthouse in Ireland to be fully automated and remotely monitored. Today, Haulbowline Lighthouse continues to serve as a vital navigational aid, marking the entrance to Carlingford Lough.
