United Kingdom Norfolk Wherry Trust, River Thurne.
Just for clarity, this location does not have a static address. The location is in the middle of nowhere near to the Norfolk Wherry Trust. Once at the trust, head down towards the river. The nature reserve is called Potterheigham Nature Reserve. You’ll need to fight your way through lots of high grass and reeds until you reach your destination. Well worth it though.
Photography Tips
Take a good zoom lens and ND filters, look for oncoming and passing boat traffic. Look for story too. For example boaters looking up at the sails, or winding the sails in.
This location come August is a difficult one to shoot due to intense lighting depending which way you’re facing. If you’re facing. Tripods are handy too. I use auto ISO. Sunny days I opt for f10 or f11 no higher. Shutter speed I usually keep at around 1/200 no higher and maintain a good exposure compensation. The later is very important. Get it wrong and you’ve wasted a day shooting.
I always take my bike. It’s easier. And a good bivvy tent for early morning and late night shots. This area on my last visit August 25 was still in good condition. That said, now I’ve given it away lots of people have been asking me exactly where I shoot from. So, I’m hoping it’s still there.
Take plenty of water, food, waterproofing. Cell phone signal is weak in this location
