United Kingdom Central Winchester
Winchester has many bars and restaurants. With a large student community, the nightlife can be a great source of material for street photography. The central area of the city is pedestrianised and offers easy access.
Photography Tips
The centre of Winchester is ancient, with many narrow streets and alleyways, offering interesting view points and frames. Try looking for juxtaposition and reflections, especially at night. Details can make great subjects, as long as they can be isolated from the backgrounds, which tend to be 'busy' in such a small city.
Travel Information
Winchester is well served by public car parks, though those in the very centre of the city can fill up with shoppers and visitors. Fortunately, the city is small and there are other car parks, such as St Peter's, that are only a few minutes walk from the centre. There are park and ride services too, which are very cost-effective if you plan to stay the entire day. The Barfield park and ride is easy to access. It's also only a few minutes walk from the cathedral and Winchester College, if you prefer not to take the bus. Some car parks are free to use in the evenings.
