United Kingdom Happisburgh Beach Sea Defences
Along this stretch of the coast are many decaying sea defence structures, constructed over the years. Sadly, this hasn't stopped coastal erosion here and the defences themselves are being slowly swallowed by the sea. This has left many interesting compositions for photographers.
Photography Tips
Take a tripod and if you have them, ND filters so that you can have slow exposures to show the ebb and flow of the sea around the structures. Low tide is best, but they're still visible at high tide.
Travel Information
Car is the only practical transport method. There's a large car park at the end of a very narrow access road (although this itself will likely become a victim of the advancing erosion in years to come). Park here and walk to a long ramp down to the beach directly from the car park. Turn left at the bottom and stay the land side of the large boulders. The defences start just a few minutes from here. There's often an ice cream van in the car park in the summer and there are toilets too.
