United Kingdom Happisburgh, the street.
Great shooting location. The hill at the base of the lighthouse is a much better location to shoot the lighthouse because the sun is directly behind you. The lower advantage point offers more flexibility too composition wise.
Photography Tips
Take a tripod, long lens, not too long, 24-105 is suffice. Sony A7 or similar is good enough. Long exposure is great for cloudy windy days. I use a remote shutter with a 10 stop Hoya Pro. This helps to keep images crisp and sharp. Don’t zoom all the way in. Move closer instead and play around with compositions as I have done here. I’ve also shot from the right side via beach road. If you’ve little if any cloud structure in the sky use it in your favour like I have here. Avoid shooting from the carpark area. I’ve found that side isn’t good unless there’s a good amount of cloud and low sun. There’s an old war bunker nearby too. This location is excellent for leading lines and story shots, however, it’s facing into the sun.
Travel Information
I traveled from Norwich train station via train with my bike to North Walsham and cycled the remaining route which is around 5 miles. Summer time is best. Leaving late can be tricky due to poorly lit roads and pit holes. All photos on my portfolio are available to purchase directly from myself.
