Squeezed between the muddy Rio Grande River and the Mountains of Big Bend runs FM170 also known as The River Road. This vista is from a perch on the Hoodoos Trail looking to the east. The road both flows with and stands out from the surrounding desert.

Photography Tips

As you start the Hoodoos Trail the spot is to your left and up a hill. There is a sign at the top that says "TRAIL". Sunset would cast warm light in the direction of this shot. Watch out for cactus!

Park at the Hoodoos Trailhead and it is a short walk across loose rocky desert terrain to gain access to this spot.
