USA View Looking Glass Rock Overlook, Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina

Looking Glass Rock is a massive mound of granite, and one of the largest in southeast USA. Over millions of years of soil erosion the rock is exposed and is now iconic sight along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Its name comes from the sheer cliff face which shines like a mirror when wet and the sun hits it.

From this overlook at milepost 417, you can view the rock in all of its glory. However, you can also climb to the top of the rock as well. The trailhead starts in Brevard, NC and climbs 1,600 feet through a forest for a moderately challenging hike.

There is also Looking Glass Falls, a roadside falls just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, in Brevard, NC. The waterfall is a single drop cascade from a towering cliff.

View Looking Glass Overlook is located at milepost 417, on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. There is ample parking at this overlook but can be crowded in the mornings, especially at sunrise.
