USA Oxbow Bend at sunset
Simple pull-off in Grand Teton National Park. The wildlife and scenery are spectacular throughout the park. Among dozens of great locations in the park, Oxbow Bend is arguably the most iconic photo spot with shots of Mt. Moran reflecting off of Snake River in the early morning and is one of only a few great sunset locations.
Photography Tips
If there is no wind you must come here because it's rare indeed. Be patient and courteous with other photographers. People flock to this area throughout the day but especially just before sunrise when photographers and their tripods line the riverbank and roadside shoulder to shoulder for 150 yards. Most of them play nice but there’s always a few who are oblivious to the people around them and will walk into your long exposure shot. Don’t be one of those guys.
Travel Information
There are a couple of parking lots nearby. Due to the popularity of this spot, you’ll find cars parked all along Hwy. 191 west of the main parking area 2.5 miles (4.0 km) from the Moran Entrance Station on the east side of the park.
