USA Statue of Liberty from Red Hook, New York

This spot offers one of the most iconic views of the Statue of Liberty from Brooklyn. Located along the Red Hook waterfront (near Louis Valentino Jr. Park and Pier), you get a direct line of sight to Liberty Island. The moon's path aligns perfectly behind Lady Liberty when viewed from this angle a couple times a year (use PhotoPills or PlanIt Pro). The distance between the waterfront and the statue allows for significant lens compression, making the moon appear massive relative to the monument.

Time of Day: Blue Hour or Night. For moon alignments, you must use apps like PhotoPills or PlanIt Pro to find the exact date when the moon sets or rises directly behind the statue from this coordinate.

Season: Winter months are often clearer with less haze, though it can be extremely windy and cold by the water.

Photography Tips Gear: A telephoto lens is mandatory. To get the "giant moon" effect, you need at least 400mm to 600mm (full-frame equivalent).

Tripod: Essential. The wind coming off the New York Harbor can be strong, so a sturdy tripod is a must for sharp shots at long focal lengths.
