Perhaps the most famous arch photographed in Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada is Windstone Arch. Many people fail to locate it because the arch itself is less than 2 feet tall. Photos are deceptive.

Photography Tips

You’ll need a short tripod to set up in the very cramped space in the tiny cave. Early morning or late afternoon works best. Contrast during mid-day are harsh.

Travel Information

From I-15, turn southeast on the Valley of Fire Highway and drive 15 miles to Campground Road. Turn left and drive about 100 feet to a gravel pullout on the right. Walk NNE about 200 feet to a small rock cluster. You’ll see a small opening as you approach that’s only about 4 feet high. That’s called Firestone Cave. Inside, you’ll find Windstone Arch.
