This is perhaps the best wildflower hike in Washington State with amazing backdrop views of Mount Rainier and plenty of tarns for reflections. Pick a good day in the spring with good weather. Arrive early for the best light and less people as this is a popular hike. You might get lucky and even see bear.

Photography Tips

Arrive early, bring a polarizing filter and plan to spend some time. It is an incredibly beautiful hike.

Spray Park is a very popular hike in Mount Rainier NP. It offers beautiful vistas of Mount Rainier and occasionally there is a tarn by the trail that can be utilized for reflection. I would personally not call it a spring destination since the road to the trailhead is gated and usually does not open until snow is melted, this year for example the estimated opening day is July 1st. Flowers usually peak in late July or beginning of August. Fall colors can be expected in October.

Wow, this looks like a really awesome place to stay for a few days as a landscape photographer! Is this some kind of local recreation area for people who live in Seattle? Because it looks a little bit like Lake Tahoe, which is a quite popular trip for people from San Francisco as far as I know. Thanks for sharing dear Dan!
