USA Bear's Den Overlook

Great location to observe sunset over northern Shenandoah Valley near Leesburg Virginia. An uphill one-mile hike from the parking lot will eventually lead to a rocky outcrop where you can get sweeping views.

Photography Tips

Since the views are west and northwest, the location is ideal for sunset. The woods block any view of sunrise from the overlook itself.

Travel Information

Park at Snickers Gap Appalachian Trailhead parking lot. It's large, but does fill up on weekends. It's right off Route 7. The trail is marked and while it's quite rocky and gains about 300 feet in elevation, it's not a difficult trail.
