The Statue of Liberty exhibit opened in July 1986 and is located on the second floor in the pedestal of the Statue.

New Jersey and New York subsequently agreed to share jurisdiction of the entire island. This special situation only applies to Ellis Island and part of Shooters Island.

The ferry moves a lot. It is best to shoot handheld at high shutter speed.

Travel Information

Statue Cruises is the only provider authorized by the National Park Service to take visitors to Liberty and Ellis Islands. You can take a ferry from Liberty State Park or from Manhattan.
