USA Last Dollar Road - Telluride, CO

This scenic pull-off along Last Dollar Road offers a jaw-dropping view of golden aspens, rolling ridgelines, and the jagged peaks of the San Juan Mountains, including Mt. Sneffels. In autumn, it’s one of Colorado’s most iconic and peaceful overlooks for catching glowing light and vibrant color.

Best light hits during golden hour and sunset, when warm tones sweep across the valley. Use a medium-to-telephoto lens (50–200mm) to compress the ridges and create separation between layers. A tripod and polarizer help maintain detail and contrast. Scout multiple angles — even a few feet left or right can dramatically change your composition.

Last Dollar Road can be rough — 4WD or AWD is strongly recommended, especially if it's rained recently. This spot is roughly 15–20 minutes from the Telluride Airport side and reachable by most vehicles in dry conditions. Expect a mix of gravel and dirt roads with epic views around every turn.
