USA Alyeska Pipeline Viewing Point
North of the Alaska Range there is this viewpoint at a crossing of the Richardson Highway and the trans-Alaska-Pipeline / Alyeska Pipeline. The pipeline runs more or less parallel to the highway for several hundred kilometres.
The pillars supporting the pipeline are only stable when the permafrost is not thawing. This is why they are fitted with cooling fins that dissipate heat into the surrounding air.
