On this day the large tour boat I was on was rocking enough that staying upright was a challenge, much less holding the camera steady. Make sure your gear is tethered to you or otherwise secured from going overboard. If your unsteady on your feet, stay close to something you can grab onto to prevent you or your gear going overboard.

We took a boat tour out of Seward Alaska. It’s possible to rent a boat there but you must have experience driving a boat in the ocean. Also, check weather conditions before leaving the harbor. I’ve been off the coast of the Kenai Peninsula when the seas were so rough, when to boat was at the bottom of a swell you couldn’t see the surrounding mountains. Not great for fishing and impossible for photography.
