USA Peregrine Falcons (New Jersey)
Viewing Opportunity: The State Line Lookout in Alpine, NJ, is a well-known spot where bird watchers and photographers gather to view the falcons. You might catch glimpses of them soaring, diving, or interacting near the cliffs, especially during the spring and summer nesting season. The pair resides there all year long.
Photography Tips
A long lens is required. At times you can get away with focal lengths of 300-400mm. Pre-dawn is a good time on cloudless days (plus it avoids traffic), or days under cloud cover. The peregrine falcons there may be the most photographed falcones in the world due to the ease of access. A tripod can be helpful, but be prepared to pan and shoot when they are in flight and having the camera off of the tripod.
