USA Lake Nevin – Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest
Lake Nevin is one of the most photogenic spots within Bernheim Forest, known for its mirror-like reflections and colorful seasonal displays. During fall, the trees surrounding the lake explode with orange and gold hues, and the still water creates perfect symmetry at sunrise or sunset. It’s a peaceful, scenic area that beautifully captures Kentucky’s autumn charm.
Photography Tips
The best times to shoot are sunrise or sunset when the light glows across the water. Look for windless evenings or early mornings to catch ideal reflections. A tripod and a polarizer help manage glare and boost color depth. The shoreline near the Garden Pavilion and Sunrise Trail area offers especially strong compositions with open sky views.
Travel Information
Bernheim Forest is located off KY-245 in Clermont, Kentucky, about 30 minutes south of Louisville. Entry is free on weekdays, with a small donation suggested on weekends. Parking is available near the Visitor Center and Lake Nevin Loop Trail, both providing easy access to the lake.
