USA Tongue Point – Salt Creek Recreation Area
Tongue Point is a rugged coastal overlook within Salt Creek Recreation Area, where dramatic cliffs meet the Pacific Ocean. Moss-draped trees cling to the rocky shoreline, creating a uniquely Pacific Northwest scene that blends forest and coastline. When the light is right, the entire bluff glows with warm color, making this an unforgettable coastal photography location.
Photography Tips
Best photographed during late afternoon and sunset, when warm light sweeps across the trees and cliff face. A telephoto or mid-range lens works well to isolate the cliff and compress the layers of forest and rock, while a wide-angle lens can capture more of the surrounding coastline. Keep an eye on tides and wave conditions, and use caution near cliff edges.
