USA Thunderhole at Acadia National Park
Thunderhole is an inlet along the Atlantic Ocean in coastal Maine. Steps lead you towards the bottom to see and hear the waves crashing. Busy during the day with tourists very few people late in the night. Is very dark with minimal night lighting. Short walk from parking lot across the road. Follow path and go about 1/3 way down the steps. Good location to see the Milky Way from late spring to fall.
Photography Tips
This spot is very dark at night. Bring a flashlight or redlight to follow path and set up tripod. Headlights from passing cars may interfere with shot so plan for extra time so you have dark stretches. It can get cold at night and ocean spray depending upon tide and weather. Best to photograph during a new moon phase.
