USA Marmots on Baker Creek Road
Signs warn to be careful of marmots crossing the road. While we were still debating whether in April they have already woken up from hibernation, one lies sprawled out on the carriageway. But no - it hasn't been run over. A marmot is eating a pothole in the road. It lets us get surprisingly close to take its portrait. Only when another vehicle approaches on the other side of the road does it move to the shoulder. Later, we discover more similar holes in the carriageway and another marmot eating its way into the road.
