USA McPhillips Beach

A large section of the very long McPhillips Beach at Cape Kiwanda near Pacific City is open to vehicles. The beach is naturally popular. Families picnic here. But it is also attractive for pelicans. They dive into small lagoons on the beach and make rich pickings. Similar to gannets, they dive beak-first from flight into the water.
