USA Old Frankfort Pike Tree Tunnel
One of the most iconic stretches of road in the Kentucky Bluegrass region. The intersection of Old Frankfort Pike and Midway Road features a cathedral-like canopy of mature hardwood trees flanked by classic black plank horse farm fencing. During golden hour the light filters through the canopy in a way that transforms this country road into something truly magical. This is quintessential Kentucky.
Photography Tips
Shoot at sunrise for the best light. The low angle sun rakes through the tree tunnel from the east and lights up the fence rails and tree trunks beautifully. A centered composition with a wide or ultra-wide lens maximizes the symmetry of the tree canopy. A panoramic crop works exceptionally well here. Shoot from a low position in the road for the strongest leading lines. Be mindful of traffic, as this is an active road.
