USA Connecticut River Museum
The view of Essex Harbor from the Connecticut River Museum is uncluttered and unobstructed. The Connecticut River is often placid in the evening. Gulls are plentiful and good subjects if you have a long lens.
Photography Tips
Try an evening (or morning) shot with a long exposure to smooth the water. You won't get sunset shots over the river, but you might get sunrise shots. During mid-day the light is harsh and unforgiving.
Travel Information
The Connecticut River Museum is at the end of Main Street in Essex. If you visit the Museum, which is well worth your time, you can park in the adjacent lot. Otherwise, you'll have to walk quite a ways, since parking is very limited along Main Street. You might want to park somewhere in Essex Harbor. If you do, you will find interesting photographic opportunities as you walk to the Museum grounds.
