This photo shows the cliffs of Palisade Head in
Tettegouche Sate Park near Silver Bay Minnesota. It was taken from Shovel Point looking South West across Lake Superior to the cliffs.

Photography Tips

Shovel Point in Tettegouche Sate Park is a short hike from the visitors center. It has some nice views back to the shoreline and to Palisade Head off in the distance. This photo was taken with a long zoom 400mm but other compositions of the shoreline are nice with shorter lenses. Sunrise is probably the best time for viewing with the light illuminates the shoreline.

Travel Information

The closest town is Silver Bay about 5 miles from the park. The Tettegouche visitors center has been recently remodeled and includes a small coffee store. Shovel Point is a easy 1.9 mile out and back hike from the visitors center with some stairs.
