Vietnam Hon Khoi Salt Fields
Hon Khoi Salt Fields is one of the largest and most photogenic salt production centers in Central Vietnam. Spanning hundreds of hectares along the coastline, the shallow salt fields turn into giant natural mirrors at dawn, reflecting the vibrant colors of the morning sky and clouds. Everyday from early morning, local salt workers—mostly women in conical hats and protective boots—gather to harvest white sea salt. The dynamic action of carrying salt baskets, pouring sparkling white salt crystals onto massive mounds, and wading across mirror-like water creates a captivating, world-class location for documentary, portrait, and aerial photography
Photography Tips
Best Time: Very early morning (4:30 AM – 6:30 AM) during sunrise when workers begin harvesting and the water surface reflects sky colors perfectly.
Best Gear: A drone (flycam) for capturing geometric field patterns and reflection grids. On the ground, a wide-angle lens (16-35mm) captures water reflections, while a fast zoom (24-70mm or 70-200mm) freezes dynamic salt-pouring action.
Camera Protection: Keep a high shutter speed (1/1000s or faster) to capture airborne salt particles, and be careful with salty water mist around your lenses.
