Vietnam O Loan Lagoon Boat Mooring Area

O Loan Lagoon is a national landscape relic in Phu Yen, famous for its tranquil waters and rich seafood heritage. At the local boat mooring spots along the lagoon edge, fishermen tie their wooden fishing boats together at a central anchor post, creating an extraordinary flower-like pattern (hoa thuyền) resting on the calm water. During golden hour, the sun casts a warm, glittering glow over the lagoon surface, highlighting fishermen mending or casting nets right beside their boats. Seen from above with a drone, the arrangement of boats resembles a blooming lotus flower, making this a iconic location for travel, documentary, and aerial fine-art photography.

Best Time: Early sunrise (5:00 AM – 6:30 AM) or late afternoon sunset (4:30 PM – 6:00 PM) to capture golden reflections and fishermen active at their boats.
Best Gear: A drone (flycam) is essential to photograph the complete top-down geometric flower shape of the moored boats. On the ground or water's edge, a fast prime lens (50mm or 85mm) or a 24-70mm zoom captures beautiful portraits and close-up net mending actions. Composition: Center the flower-like boat cluster in your frame for symmetrical balance, or use the golden sun trail as a leading line.
