Antarctica Glaciers and mountains near Antarctic Sound
The Antarctic Sound is a dramatic, iceberg-filled channel at the northeastern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula, right by Esperanza Base. Often called “Iceberg Alley,” it is famous for its massive tabular icebergs that break off from the Weddell Sea and drift through these cold, nutrient-rich waters. The area is also rich in wildlife, with penguins, seals, and seabirds frequently seen along its rugged, icy coastline.
Photography Tips
Use the time in between the spots and take your attention to the dramatic coastline. It's a special landscape with these massive icebergs in this channel.
