Can I use the app without creating an account?
Currently, it's not possible to use the app without being logged in since it's heavily dependent on social features as bookmarking spots, liking spot images, notifications, or user profiles. Basically, it's much easier for us to implement the app like that without having to remove 80% of the functionality or having to add popups with requests to login whenever you click a feature that simply would need an account. If you would like to try the app without signing up, you can simply visit www.locationscout.net to see if you like the content the platform is providing.tl;dr
How can I upload photos myself?
With the current version, it's not yet possible to upload photos via the app itself. The basic idea behind the app is to be your companion while you are on the go to find places nearby or find spots that you bookmarked before. Photos and content can be uploaded via the web platform www.locationscout.net and every additional content is highly appreciated. Uploading spots directly via the app is planned though for one of the next bigger releases.tl;dr

Why is there a Premium subscription?
When everything started in 2014, I (Manuel) never imagined growing such a big community around the idea to find the most beautiful photo spots around the world. Like most projects, I just started to build something to see if others would participate and have the same problem as I had back then. The idea was born at Kirby Cove, San Francisco in 2011 already and the first version of the platform went live in autumn 2014. Over 3 years passed since the initial idea and I thought over and over again about it and how to build it until I finally started to work on Locationscout for every evening and entire weekends.
A lot has changed since these days and while the platform grew, the costs for hosting and providing Locationscout did so too. The only thing that didn't change is the countless evenings and weekends - which is fine since I love what I do and I really care about the community and creating something valuable to others. Premium subscriptions are therefore an urgently required way to be able to build a sustainable business around Locationscout, making it possible to pay the recurring costs, earn my living, hire more talented people, and to keep providing the best possible solution to find beautiful places around the world.
By subscribing to Premium you are supporting the further development and the maintenance of the platform and the apps for iOS and Android. Additionally, Locationscout is supporting multiple non-profits to protect wildlife and nature.tl;dr

Which features are Premium only?
In general basic features and all user-generated content is and will always be available for free. With Premium, we are adding features like "Around Me" which is showing you spots nearby as a grid or directly on a map that you might have missed otherwise. While the map within "Around Me" is showing you the travel distance/time and a possible route, you can use the "open navigation"-button within each spot to directly open navigation via Google or Apple Maps. If parking was marked within the spot, you can even select this geo-position as your travel destination.
Boards for your bookmarked spots are available as a free feature and Premium is adding a map to each board, making it even easier to plan your trip or find regions you might want to visit next.tl;dr

How can I upgrade to Premium?
Premium features are currently only available in the iOS and Android app. Therefore it's only possible to subscribe and support Locationscout financially by using the app. Premium features for the website are already planned and there will be more awesome features in the future, making sure that you will have the best possible travel experience.tl;dr

Can I use my Premium Account on multiple devices?
Yes. The Premium subscription is tied to your personal account and you can use it on iOS and Android in parallel.
When and how can I cancel my subscription?
On iOS devices, you can cancel anytime with your iTunes account settings. On Android, you can use the Google Play Store to see your current subscriptions and cancel them.
Subscriptions will automatically renew unless cancelled within 24-hours before the end of the current period. If you cancel your plan, it will not renew at the end of your subscription cycle and you can keep using Premium until the period you have paid for is over.
