Argentina Glaciar Ojo del Albino, Tierra del Fuego

Glaciar Ojo del Albino is a remote hanging glacier located high above the valley near Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego. Surrounded by sharp peaks and dramatic alpine terrain, it feeds a small glacial lake below and offers a much wilder, less-visited alternative to the region’s more accessible sights. Its isolated position and rugged scenery make it a rewarding destination for experienced hikers.

The hike is challenging and covers roughly 16–18 km round trip, usually taking 7 to 9 hours depending on conditions. The trail initially follows the path toward Laguna Esmeralda before branching off into steep, unmarked terrain with loose rocks and significant elevation gain. Due to the technical difficulty, changing weather, and navigation challenges, this trek is recommended only for well-prepared hikers or with a local guide.
