With the pond providing the reflection of the cathedral I think this is one of the best angles to photograph it from. At night there are very few people around tis area as well.

A tripod is required and then just use your imagination. The water reflection and lighting provide a number of interesting angles to explore. 30 sec, f/8, ISO 160, focal length 43mm.

Paid public parking is available in the CBD but walking or public transit are the best options for getting to this area.
