Australia Three Sisters Blue Mountains, Katoomba
The Three Sisters are an unusual rock formation on the north escarpment of the Jamison Valley. They are close to the town of Katoomba and are one of the Blue Mountains' best-known sites. Their names are Meehni (922 m), Wimlah (918 m), and Gunnedoo (906 m). These tabletop mountains belong to the Unesco World Heritage items. They are covered with Eucalyptus trees and you can have great walks around that area.
Photography Tips
A wide-angle lens would be useful to immortalize the entire panorama, while a standard one should be length enough to take a close-up of Three Sisters. The best time for shooting is in the morning. If you are lucky and the weather is right, you can see the Phantom Falls. Then misst flows over the plateaus from one valley to another. The sunsets are beautiful too, but more crowded.
Travel Information
Just 90 minutes after leaving Sydney by car, two hours by train. Trains depart the city's Central Station at frequent intervals throughout the day, with stops at Strathfield, Parramatta, Penrith, and the towns and villages between Penrith and Katoomba.
