In the Montafon region, marmots can often be seen in alpine areas close to lakes and open meadows. These quiet spots give them enough space while still offering good chances to observe them naturally in their habitat.
Photography Tips
Wait patiently near a lake, as marmots often appear after some time once the area is calm again. Use a telephoto lens to keep enough distance and still fill the frame. Avoid sudden movements and stay low. Always respect their space and never approach or disturb them.
Travel Information
Parking is available in the village below. From there, take the mountain railway to reach the area. After exiting the station, it’s a short and easy walk to the lake.
