Austria Schlick 2000 mountain top, Stubaital
The Schlick 2000 mountain area above Fulpmes offers some of the most spectacular sunrise views in Austria's Stubai Valley. From the panoramic viewpoints near Kreuzjoch, photographers can enjoy breathtaking views across the surrounding mountain ranges.
Under the right weather conditions, the valleys disappear beneath a thick sea of clouds, leaving only the highest peaks visible. Combined with the warm orange and pink colors of sunrise, this creates an unforgettable Alpine atmosphere.
The viewing platform provides an interesting foreground element, while the distant mountain silhouettes and layers of clouds add incredible depth to the composition.

Photography Tips
Sunrise is highly recommended, especially during autumn when temperature inversions can create spectacular seas of clouds across the surrounding valleys.
A telephoto lens between 100–400mm works particularly well to compress distant mountain peaks and capture the different layers of clouds. Including the viewing platform or a person in the foreground adds scale and creates a more interesting composition.
For the most dramatic colors, arrive at least 30 minutes before sunrise. The transition from deep blue twilight to warm orange light can be particularly beautiful, especially when the mountain peaks rise above the clouds.
Expose for the bright sky to preserve the delicate sunrise colors while allowing the mountains and foreground to become dark silhouettes.

Travel Information
Schlick 2000 is located above Fulpmes in the Stubai Valley, around 20 minutes from Innsbruck.
Reaching the summit for sunrise requires planning, as regular cable cars don't run that early. Hiking from the valley is possible but long and demanding, and it requires starting several hours before sunrise.
Alternatively, some hotels, such as the Alpin Resort Stubaier Hof, offer special early-morning transfers (on selected dates). Cable car operators also occasionally run sunrise rides, so check the official Schlick 2000 website for upcoming dates.
Autumn is particularly beautiful, with good chances of low clouds and atmospheric conditions. Bring warm clothing, sturdy shoes, and a headlamp, as temperatures can be very cold before sunrise.
